Originally formed in September 2005 as 'Bergen Pipeband', The Bergen Pipe Band has grown both in size and reputation - playing gigs large and small throughout southern Norway.
We are one of three such bands in Norway and we maintain a close friendship and working partnership with the Oslo Caledonian Pipe Band - annually performing at events together both in Bergen and south eastern Norway.
The band has performed at high profile events with Kongens garde, rock bands, in Oslo Spektrum for 2011 Brann Cup Final, for televison and radio, International rugby matches, football matches and for an Utøya commemoration concert at Sundvollen. We also play for weddings, funerals, parties, festivals and commemorations. If you wish to book the band to play, click here.
Our formost aims are to enjoy what we do, to entertain and to make Scottish bagping and drumming a small part of the new, multicultural Norwegian society.
We are a Norwegian Pipe Band with primarily Norwegian musicians - though some of our members are also from Scotland and Canada! The social life within the band is extremely important and plays a large part in keeping a friendly and positive atmosphere within the group.
The Bergen Pipe Band welcomes new members - who either wish to begin learning 'The Great Highland Bagpipe', Pipe band snare drum, tenor drum or bass drum - or established players already living and working in the Bergen area - or who will be relocating here from elsewhere! Tuition is free and new members aged 12 and above are welcome to join us! For further information click here.
